It's Just Money!

On the heels of Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize for giving the world “hope for a better future”, there is still the question of how he (we)is (are) going to pay for all of this future. Congress feels that the money barrel is bottomless, but they’re just following the 16th Amendment, which states: “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, “ but no where does is say to spend like a drunken czar.

Most economist are scratching their heads at this formula, as I, even with my love of math, the numbers just don’t add up. In doing a little research I came up with this (most of these numbers will be rounded off, so please bring a calculator and follow along), in a mere 10 months we have given:

$700 Billion for Piggy Bank bailouts. $787 Billion for the American Recovery Act. $410 Billion for the Omnibus Appropriation Act. $18 Billion for The Pig Vaccination Program. $663 Billion for the Defense Department. This week the U.S. House approved $82.8 Billion for federal nutrition programs. $4 Billion for Cash for Clunkers. The new Health Plan would add $239 Billion, Cap & Trade or the Climate bill, would add between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. Another estimate says $366 Billion a year. Pelosi wants another stimulus to a tune of $6.6 Billion and last, but not least,

$18 Million to redesign the website that is supposed to help the American people see where all the stimulus money is going. (They’re still working on it!)

WHAT????? I’m sure I left Something out! The Obama printing presses must be working overtime because my calculator just ran out of numbers.

And just when you thought all this spending wasn’t enough to make you angry, here are some of the few places your representatives are spending your money during hard times. Let me assure you they are from both sides of the isle. We’ll call this PORK!!!!

$2,192,000 by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.),

then-House appropriator James Walsh (R-N.Y.), and Rep. Michael

Arcuri (D-N.Y.) for the Center for Grape Genetics in Geneva.

I can see where they may need a little extra cash.

$1,791,000 by Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) for swine odor and manure

management research in Ames. Those smelly pigs!

$866,000 by Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) for stable fly control in Lincoln.

Wouldn’t flyswatters be cheaper?

$413,000 by Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Sen.Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.),

and Rep.Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) for tri-state joint peanut research.

Why didn’t they just call Carter?

$173,000 by Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Olympia Snowe

(R-Maine), then-Rep. Thomas Allen (D-Maine), and Rep. Michael

Michaud (D-Maine) for blueberry research. Blueberries?

$70,705,675 for 53 projects by Dianne Feinstein (D Calif.),

including: $8,000,000 for the Bay Area regional water

recycling program; $2,677,000 for Army Corps of Engineers investigations on

the South San Francisco shoreline, Geez that shoreline looks good.

$44,139,929 for 23 projects by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

(D-Nev.) $142,725 for a plug-in hybrid vehicle demonstration program

in Las Vegas. I can plug a car in for free!

$951,500 by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and Debbie Stabenow (DMich.),

and Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-Mich.) for downtown Detroit energy efficient street

lighting. So the street gangs can see each other better.

$73,690,000 for 35 projects by Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.),

including: $5,000,000 for San Francisco Bay restoration.

They’ll be building low income housing for the sea otters!

$12,610,000 for 10 projects by Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), including four

projects with President Obama’s new Interior Secretary, then-Sen.

Ken Salazar (D-Colo.): It will be difficult for President Obama to

make good on his promise to cut wasteful spending and earmarks

with committed pork-barrelers at his side.

$111,872,000 for 28 projects Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), including: $33,315,000 for

education for Native Hawaiians. No offense, but isn’t there a school system?

$9,000,000 by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Sen. Charles

Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) for a

dining facility/community center at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve

Station. So that when they visit, they’ll eat in style!

So where does this money come from? This minute and half audio finally reveals where the money is coming from. It’s Obama’s Money, just ask them:

Jib,

With all the PORK in these bills, I think the grape and bluberry cash is most important. At least we can make LOADS AND LOADS of wine, and I think I'm going to need a hell of a lot of it.

We can take it to Pops breakfast and share it with the whole gang.

Jibberish a total formal salute to you ! That was just some great research . I hope and pray that no matter which side of the fence you are on politically you feel the sense of outrage I feel about this runaway spending ! Every citizen In this country should be scared and angry right now ! Good work my friend !

You are right, and so is Rush. Just wait until they pass their socialists heal care; what we're seeing in Detroit will be nothing compared to the tens of thousands who will be lined up just to see a doctor. It'll be like the old Soviet Union in the 60's.

Obama, Reed, Pelosi--they're all socialists. By the time they're finished, most of our income will be going to the federal government.

"Hope and change!"

Shame, I understand it's difficult to know where to stand when the media is either left of right, and when we are force-fed things on a daily basis, not really knowing what is truth and what is a lie. Just keep an open mind, and read. Thanks for visiting.

Hmmmmm, uuuuhhhgggg. Sorry, just clearing my throat from all those pork rinds! Delicious and nutritious, tastes just like last years, and the years before and.... Will it ever stop? This is ridiculous! There is no way to trim the deficit while fattening up the pigs!

jiberish, I agree with the whole meat of this hub, and it was very well written. Unfortunately, you brought Rush Limbaugh into it. While I disagree with many of President Obama's policies, I did vote for him so I have the right to criticize. However, for Limbaugh to wish the leader of our great country to fail, no matter what the circumstances, is an offense to my sense of country. I not only have no respect for Rush Limbaugh, but I thoroughly detest the man. He's proven again and again that he's extremely biased in his opinions, and a hypocrite at that. That said, I think you write beautifully, and this hub is informative and well-researched. I promise not to hold it against you that you're a Rush-head. Keep writing from your heart - but realize that your hubs are an invitation for other creative persons to speak their minds. I'm a fan, and I look forward to reading more of your pieces. You really are a great writer.

an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others."

GREAT HUB JIB! Unfortunately for too many people in America, government money is like a credit card...its majic! We don't complain until the bill comes in, we can't pay it and that big shiny ball of nothing has lost its alure and luster! Save Save Save, its going to get worse! There is no way all of this nonsense can be stopped between now and 2011. Its going to take a lot of pain to wake folks up....unfortunately.

Good article Jiberish. The spending by our Congressional leaders has been out of control for many years now, along with the amount of pay they receive.

When large amounts of money are given to various groups’ accountability of how the money is being spent is needed. Is the money going to just a handful of wealth people or is the majority going towards the working classes?

In September 2008 many stores and other business started to close their doors, putting thousands of people out of work. I wrote the following about Rush Limbaugh on the 12th of September 2008

“There are several news reporters, talk show hosts on TV and on the radio that are paid to promote only hate! One of these talk show hosts is Rush Limbaugh an American conservative radio talk show host who is paid approximately 30 million dollars a year to promote hate on the radio for several hours each day. This is not free speech! This is propaganda! He promotes hate against good politicians and world affairs. Just imagine what you could do for the world if you used this 30 million to promote love and peace!”

America belongs to WE THE PEOPLE. It is our government. Start participating in your government and hold your Congressional leaders accountalbe. Start by presenting real solution instead of making claims of Socalism. Demand that the accounting books are made public and that a progress report on the money spent is printed in news for everyone to read. paulinrussia
